Contemporary Garden in Broughton Astley
Project Description
A lush garden for soaking up the sun
The clients wanted lots of room to enjoy with friends and family, and relatively low maintenance. CHGD created a design that featured a generous entertaining patio adjacent to the house, as well as a sunken seating area beneath an oak pergola in the far corner of the garden so the clients could make the most of the setting sun. The paving is stylish Italian wood-effect porcelain – an ideal choice for ease of maintenance – edged with grey setts.
We introduced amelanchier, pear, rowan and birch trees for privacy and height. The planting has a lush and slightly tropical feel, with interesting foliage textures giving year round interest. Bursts of bright colour last from spring through to autumn, with hardy Geraniums, yellow day lilies, orange Geums and vibrant Salvias flowering for months on end. Low box hedging flanks the borders and lawn. A water feature provides a sensory focus near the sunken patio, while subtle lighting adds a new dimension come the evening.
