A lush garden for soaking up the sun
Project Description
Contemporary Garden in Broughton Astley
This small townhouse garden measures 7m x 5m, and when I first met the clients, the garden was entirely hard landscaped with paving and decking, and not a plant in site. The clients wanted to change this, and give the garden a really contemporary modern feel but with space to plant and make it feel softer and a more enjoyable space to sit.
Despite the small size, I decided to split the garden into two distinct areas, a top patio for sitting and dining, with steps down to a lower garden with deeper borders and a staggered path leading to the back gate. Smart white rendered raised beds gave yet more space for plants, while providing a clear division between the upper and lower areas and contrast nicely with the slate paving and grey fencing. Even though the space is fuller and lusher, it also feels loads bigger which the clients are just thrilled about. LED lighting extends the use of the garden into the evening. The owners spend so much more time outside and are now really into their gardening which is great news.
