Wildlife Garden for Barn Conversion in Warwickshire
Project Description
A cottage garden for a modern townhouse
When the owner of this tiny garden contacted me, she was unhappy with how drab and unsuccessful her previous landscaping was. Narrow borders flanked an empty rectangle of gravel. She told me she wanted colour and a cottage garden feel with somewhere to sit surrounded by flowers. All this in an area 9m x 5m. I was delighted to help.
For such a small area a really simple layout was required, with strong geometry. A curving block paved pathway sweeps across the space, with a circular seating area and trellis arch. Trees have been added for privacy and structure. An old fish pond was modernised to fit the circular theme, and the borders are crammed with wildlife friendly planting. Some evergreen shrubs provide winter backbone, but this is all about spring and summer colour.
The client now loves her garden and spends a lot more time outside enjoying it.
